Hailed as “the Father of the Constitution” 4th President James Madison was a key figure in the founding of the USA. Presented is a land grant signed by the sitting POTUS on 9/20/1815. Bearing one vertical and two horizontal compacting folds this well preserved document is appealing with bold printed sections, moderate fading of the handwritten sections and authentic signs of considerable age. This land grant ceded 200 acres of land between the Scotio and Little Miami rivers in Southern Ohio to John Fulton for the military service of Stephen Young in the “Virginia Line“. It is also bears the (“7”) signature of Commissioner of the General Land Office Josiah Meigs (d.1822). Two-thirds of the General Land Office Seal is present at this lower left corner of this antique document. Overall this item is in very attractive and solid condition and displays remarkably considering its age of almost two hundred years.
