When taking time off from pioneering the animation film genre Walt Disney would partake in Hollywood area polo matches for recreation. Offered is a c.1930s game used polo ball signed by Disney (d.1966, "8"), western film actor Jack Holt (d.1951, “8-9”) and Australian Olympic boxer “Snowy” Baker (d.1953, “7“). Spanning 5" wide by 1-1/2" tall Disney’s signature is the most prominent on the well abraded ball with ink continuity evidencing the ball was signed after game use. Approximately the size of a baseball this vintage polo ball shows extensive signs of use and is marked “Made in British India”. Disney’s ties to the other signers are traced to the appearance of Holt as the referee in the 1936 animated short “Mickey’s Polo Match” and Baker’s status as a Hollywood polo teacher who taught many film stars and also worked as a stunt coach. Included with this item is COA from University Archives. This item has a reserve. (Estimated value is $3,000-$5,000).
